Chippen Replies!!! (03/03/07)
Christian Wilhelmsson was in the first eleven and SCORED!
Chippen has been criticised for not speaking italian, today he replies the critisisme by scoring a goal.
The Swedish National team Winger scored from close range in the dying minutes of the match against Ascoli and made one point for Roma as the match ended 1-1. Earlier in the week chippen has been criticised by his team mate Marco Cassetti for not been able to speak Italien good. Now he replied to the ctriticism!!!
Chippen has also been picked out in the nationa team squad who will face Northern Ireland in the qualifications for the European cup!
Winger buoyed by Roma bow(17/01/2007)
Christian Wilhelmsson was happy to make his Roma debut as a late substitute against Messina.The Swedish winger linked up with the Serie A side earlier this month in a loan deal from Nantes, which could become permanent in the summer.He was on the bench for Roma's first game of the New Year on Sunday and replaced Rodrigo Taddei with 10 minutes remaining. Though the Giallorossi conceded a last-minute equaliser, Wilhelmsson was pleased with his first impressions of his new club.
"I am positively surprised by everything," Wilhelmsson told Sportbladet."The guys are fantastic, nice and generous. They are doing all they can to give me a good reception."
”ROMA IS A DREAM” (10/01/07)
He was cold as ice on the bench in Nantes. No there is a red hot away match against Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Inter. And 1/8-final in Champions Leauge against Kim Källströms Lyon- with Roma.
- It’s like a dream, says Chippen himself.
Everything went quick as lightning. After two days of very intensive negotiations Chippen yesterday flew from Nantes via Paris to Rome.
After negotiations about the personal contract and medical examination Chippen was in principle ready to join As Roma, second placed in Serie A.
SPORTBLADET was the only newspaper in Sweden to reveal the news yesterday.
Chippen hardly realized himself!
-It feels fantastic. I am very happy, said Chippen during a quick meeting with the Italian reporters at Romas training ground Trigoria Yesterday(see today).
And added:
-It feels that I will enjoy my stay here!!!
A big reason for Chippen quick change to Roma was the Coach Spalletti who already in 2003 when he coached Udinese wanted to buy Chippen from Stabaek.
Since then Spalletti has continued following Chippens career.
Offensive 4-2-3-1
Yesterday the successful coach finally succeed taking Chippen to his club and they both spoke to each other for a moment.
-I think Spalletti is sympathised and easy to communicate with, Chippen says.
The skilful eye of Spalletti is a condition for having any playtime at all in Roma.
-Chippen is an old “friend” of mine since the time in Udinese. He is very speedy and can play on any of the three offensive midfielder positions behind our central forward, Spalletti says.
Roma plays an offensive 4-2-3-1 formation with the superstar Francesco Totti, always as a central forward.
It’s with the players on the wings, foremost the Brazilians Rodrigo Taddei and Alessandro Mancini, Chippen compete with.
-Actually I just now Totti who is Roma’s face, Chippen admits to the Italian reporters
-But I now how hard and competitive it will be. It’s up to me to show what I’m good at.
Late last night Chippen returned to Nantes. But today he will already be back in Rome.
Then it will be press conference and a first training with Roma.
If everything goes to plan Chippen will be ready and able to play already on Sunday in the game against Messina.

CHIPPEN SIGNS CONTRACT WITH ROMA (09/01/2007)
Christian”Chippen” Wilhelmsson 27, has signed a contract with the Italian Serie A club AS ROMA.
During the afternoon (9 January) he signed the contract with the club. It’s a loan to the summer with the option for the club to buy Chippen and sign him for four years.
The Swedish midfield star makes a giant change from being excluded in Nantes, the last team in the French league to the second best team in Serie A for the moment.
SPORTBLADET gets contact with Chippen agent Fabio Ahlo in the last phase of the negotiations.
- The deal is very close to be complete, was the short comment by Ahlo
Due to this comment SPORTBLADET was able to reveal that Chippen has signed the contract.
He flew to Rome this morning and have been in negotiations during the day.
Troubles with the Coach
Since Chippens Night Club visit in Gothenburg, the Swedish medfielder have had a tough time in france.
Nantes record signing got stuck in a fight with the clubs former coach and the Director.
But Wilhelmssons situation didn’t change under the era of the new coach Georges Eo.
But in Rome there is a coach who believes in Chippen, Luciano Spalletti.
When Christian Wilhelmsson got his breakthrough in the Norwegian club Stabaek 2003 he was in Udinese for a week trial. Udinese was at the time coached by Spalletti.
Chippen made a good impression
The Italien was very impressed and Udinese offered him a contract and tried to buy him from Stabaek. But Chippen signed the contract from Anderlecht instead.
Now Spalletti sees the opportunity in a fairly chap way test the sewed in the tough concurrence that Roma has and in Serie A.
I wish Christian a good future in As Roma, even if he doesn’t play it’s better to be on the bench in Roma than in Nantes!!!
